Thin Coat Finishes

Natural building envelopes are typically completed with a vapour-permeable finish, to avoid any moisture build up within the construction. Most conventional construction systems try to keep moisture out of the building fabric, by using materials that are impermeable to moisture. Unfortunately, this strategy relies on the building being maintained indefinitely as completely watertight and impermeable. It’s very hard to ensure this happens over time, and any vapour or water that does get into the fabric is then trapped by the impermeable finishes, and causes damp and mould to form. By specifying vapour-open materials, the building envelope is able to regulate the moisture within the wall and ensure there is no damp or mould build up.
